Manchester City star Erling Haaland needs to cough up €60 on his next visit to Switzerland, or he could find himself spending the day in prison.
That’s according to Blick, who report that the Manchester City striker ‘faces a prison sentence’ over an unpaid fine in the country.
The newspaper explains that while Haaland appears to be in contract negotiations with Manchester City over a new deal that could be worth around £500,000 a month, he needs to dig deep into his pockets and pay a debt.
According to them, the Manchester City striker’s name made a recent appearance on “the official notice sheet” of the canton of Vaud, dated 25 October.
In it, it is indicated that Haaland did not pay a fine amount to 60 francs, around €65. What the fine was for isn’t made clear, but Haaland has not paid it either way.
If he doesn’t pay the ‘paltry sum’ then he could be forced to spend a ‘short day’ in prison the next time he land on Swiss soil.
That scenario seems unlikely, but it is a distinct possibility if the Norway international were to not pay it and then arrive in the country, where his father, Alf-Inge Haaland has resided since 2023, for the Christmas holidays he could be facing trouble.
We’re sure it’ll all be dealt with quickly and quietly and Blick certainly don’t see it anything important, more ‘surprising’ that Haaland’s name appeared in the first place.
