Benfica manager Bruno Lage has admitted there is every chance Issa Kaboré can return to Manchester City in the January transfer window.
O Jogo cover comments from the Benfica boss today made during his press conference ahead of the weekend.
He was specifically asked about Kaboré, who has been linked with an early return to Manchester City in January.
“Everyone is focused on Benfica and training well,” he said.
“Now, there are issues that could happen in January, but so much can happen… In the central players, there have been problems with very serious injuries, and we have to be prepared for anything, if anything happens.”
That question was a response to a report earlier this week that Benfica had already opened talks with Manchester City to end Kaboré’s loan deal early.
He joined in the summer but has only made six appearances totalling 192 minutes to date under Lage and his predecessor Roger Schmidt.
The report earlier this week indicated Benfica had been less than impressed by the 23-year-old and President Rui Costa had already started talks to get rid of him.
It seems that is very much on the cards, with Lage’s admittance that anything can happen very much him keeping the door open to the idea.
