Following some claims in the English press that Nottingham Forest, in search of a left-back, could be making a move for Villarreal’s Pervis Estupiñan, the information has been backed up abroad.

The latest to throw their hat in the ring with their information are Foot Mercato in France, who report that they are able to ‘confirm’ the interest from Steve Cooper’s side in the defender.

Having already spent close to €100m on the transfer market this summer, Nottingham Forest are doing their best to provide their manager with a competitive squad to maintain their status of a Premier League team, and a new left-back is needed.

Foot Mercato explain the club ‘wish to sign the Ecuador international and hope to close the deal for less than €20m’.

It’s recalled that Real Betis’ Alex Moreno was their first choice for the role, but the player made it clear he preferred to stay put instead of heading to England, leaving Nottingham Forest with the task of finding someone else.

Estupiñan appears to be that man, alongside Cristiano Biraghi, but now they need to make an offer worthy of Villarreal’s demands.
