Clearly offering his client around, Borna Barišić’s agent is doing his best to get the defender out of Rangers in the summer, knowing the good season he’s having under Steven Gerrard should bring in adequate suitors.
We’ve covered many articles about interest in Italy, with AS Roma considering a move in January, and there was a brief period recently with Napoli also mentioned.
That was quickly quashed by CalcioNapoli24 on Monday, who, via Ciro Venerato, made it clear ‘the left back of Rangers is not a first choice’ for Gennaro Gattuso’s club.
The article didn’t have a lot more information, but they’ve since published a new one, with the full quotes from the journalist, and it seems the left-back is a lot further down the pecking order than first thought.
He said, relayed by CalcioNapoli24: “Barišić from Rangers is being followed, but he’s not top of the list. Not even second. There are other priorities in the role. If the priorities disappeared, they could think about him, but there are other players Napoli feel are better”.
One of those could be Konstantinos Tsimikas, currently contracted to Olympiakos in Greece, who was once a target for Gerrard and widely touted by the Italian media as a January target for the Serie A club should Faouzi Ghoulam be sold.
He wasn’t, so no move was made, but it seems the 23-year-old is higher on the list than the Rangers defender, who has made 37 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring two goals and assisting another 14.
