Despite posting some rather positive statistics this season, there has been a bit of frustration in Spain about Raphinha at Barcelona, leading to stories that Newcastle United could bring him back to the Premier League next season.

The Brazilian already knows English football well from his time at Leeds, and the Magpies would want to use that to their advantage as they prepared for a big upcoming season that will include Champions League football.

Bringing in someone like Raphinha would certainly improve Eddie Howe’s options at Newcastle, which is why their interest does make some sense, once again pushed by Mundo Deportivo on Friday.

Previous reports have suggested they are ready to go as high as €80m for the winger, and the Spanish newspaper brings it up again.

They state that Newcastle have shown to be ‘very willing to make an irresistible proposal’ to Barcelona for their player, knowing full well the La Liga side are in need of money this summer, meaning they could sacrifice a few of their employees on the transfer market.

The fact the Magpies will be playing Champions League football next year makes them a far more enticing destination than a year ago, meaning they could have a chance.
