Newcastle have made ‘promise’ to return for player in January – PL transfer just a ‘matter of time’

With Newcastle United’s interest in Gonçalo Inácio getting big coverage from the Portuguese media this week, it’s time to see a new outlet talking about it.

This time it’s Notícias Ao Minuto who claims the Magpies haven’t forgotten about the player and ‘promise’ to come back for him in January.

Newcastle are said to be the club who have shown the most interest so far, and should use the winter window to make a new approach to know the conditions of a transfer.

Even though Notícias Ao Minuto claims Sporting don’t want to sell Inácio in the middle of the season, it’s claimed that the defender’s move to the Premier League is only a ‘matter of time’, as most of the clubs who want him are currently playing in England’s top-tier.

The centre-back is protected by a €60m release clause, and it’s said most of the interested sides have the power to pay that, including Newcastle.

While there is insistence that a January move is not very likely, we all know that should someone walk up and trigger the clause, then the decision is the player’s and the player’s only.
