Marseille’s interest in the signing of Eric Bailly from Manchester United continues to be highlighted by the French media this week.

Back on Wednesday, it had been L’Equipe who talked about the chase. They pointed out that the Ligue 1 side had first attempted to land the player on a loan in January, and now are back with a new effort.

The outlet said Marseille resumed contacts with Manchester United and kept in touch with him for ‘two weeks’. The problem is that the Red Devils are not keen on seeing him leaving permanently.

Now it’s time for RMC Sport to come up with a report about this chase.

They mention L’Equipe’s story and confirm that Bailly’s name ‘has been ticked’. The Ivorian is said to be in ‘a shortlist’ of the French club, but it’s also claimed that the discussions for the transfer with the player are ‘not yet very advanced’.

Manchester United currently count on Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof and Axel Tuanzebe all for the centre-back position as well.

So it’d be no surprise to see them letting Bailly, or some other defenders, leave this summer.
