Following David Moyes’ confirmation that West Ham United made an attempt to sign Matheus Nunes from Sporting, it seems the midfield isn’t the only area the club has been trying to reinforce.

Reports from Italy now claim that the Hammers have made an attempt to sign Spezia defender Jakub Kiwior.

Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio writes that West Ham are ‘strongly interested’ in the player, and have now placed an ‘important offer’ worth €12m.

The story claims Spezia are currently ‘pondering’ whether to sell the player now, especially because there’s interest from other clubs who could still bid for him.

One of them are Milan, although the Rossoneri’s chase is more for an attempt to be made in January or only in the next summer.

West Ham hadn’t even been linked to Kiwior this summer, so just like with Matheus Nunes, it’s quite surprising to see the Hammers moving quickly for his signing.

The defender joined Spezia on a move from Slovakian side MSK Zilina last summer, and one year in Serie A was enough for him to draw the attention from a bigger market.
