For the past decade, David de Gea and Hugo Lloris have been the first-choice goalkeepers at Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur respectively.
The duo’s long-term futures at their clubs have been discussed repeatedly, taking their contract situations into account.
De Gea’s contract runs down in 2023 and Manchester United have an option to extend it by a further year. Meanwhile, 35-year-old Lloris has two years left on his Tottenham deal.
This has seen both the Red Devils and Spurs show interest in Atlético Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak. That’s according to Fichajes.net, who explain the two Premier League sides are ‘closely following’ the Slovenia international.
Los Rojiblancos have set a €30m price tag to sanction Oblak’s sale in the winter market. This, as per the report, is a ‘laughable price’, considering the 29-year-old is one of the best keepers in the world and has many years left ahead of him at the highest level.
Diego Simeone’s side have identified Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martínez as Oblak’s successor. If Atlético raise €30m from the latter’s sale, then they will invest that money to sign the ex-Arsenal man.
