Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis’s ‘intelligence, determination, charisma’ and general know-how are what have been key to his success in business and football.
That’s according to Olympiacos manager Diego Martinez, who has hailed the Nottingham Forest owner as part of an interview with Marca today.
Marinakis is a Greek medial mogul, shipowner and owner of football clubs Olympiacos and Nottingham Forest.
He bought the former in mid-2010 and serves as their president, presiding over a highly successful period that has seen the club win seven consecutive titles and the national cup in four different seasons as well.
He decided to add Nottingham Forest to his stable of clubs in May 2017, becoming the major shareholder at the double European Cup winners and setting out a bold plan to get them into Europe in five years’ time.
He’s not quite managed that yet but they have certainly enjoyed success, with Nottingham Forest securing promotion to the Premier League for the first time in 23 years in 2022 and staying up last season as well.
Success is something that appears to be second nature to him, at least according to Martinez, who is delighted to be working under him at Olympiacos.
“He is a person with a lot of charisma, he and the entire management body, he is the first Olympiacos fan, he feels a lot about the club and the coexistence is being productive,” he said.
“We are both temperamental, and I am grateful to him for this opportunity. A successful president in the business world, with multi-million-dollar companies, a citizen of the world, who in addition to us owns Nottingham Forest and other companies of brutal magnitude.
“That success has to do with intelligence, determination, charisma and knowing how to make the right decisions at the right time, which is what makes the difference.”
