Sometimes for a footballer, the best thing is to let others fail in your place and for Brighton and Hove Albion’s Pascal Groß, that’s been the case with Germany in this international break.

The midfielder was a part of Julian Nagelsmann’s squad for his country’s recent games but didn’t feature in the defeats to Turkey and Austria, instead spending his time sat on the bench.

Defeats in both of those games, though, has led to plenty of questions being asked about the German national side and the need for change, something that BILD cover today.

They explain that after the disappointing defeats to Turkey and Austria, there is a growing belief that the team needs to focus less on talent and instead prioritise on hard workers.

That’s something that manager Julian Nagelsmann has even hinted at, suggesting they sacrifice some of their talented stars in favour of workers, even naming Brighton’s Groß as one such player.

BILD continue that today, naming their own ‘workers’ eleven’ and putting the Brighton star right in the centre of it.

They say the 32-year-old ‘went under the radar for a long time’ but is now a regular for the Seagulls and impresses as a ‘classic vacuum cleaner’ in front of the defence.

This is a role he ‘impressed’ in on the trip to the USA in the last international break, where he replaced Joshua Kimmich, who was ill, and was a part of the 3-1 win.

That set a precedent that most in Germany now seem to think needs to be followed through, with the Brighton man’s reputation growing and the praise forthcoming even if didn’t feature in this international break.
