Another day, another Ivan Perisic to Manchester United story coming out of Italy.
This time it’s Corriere dello Sport who provide the update, claiming the Croatia international isn’t particularly interested in staying at Inter next season, with the player’s desires ‘some distance’ off what the Serie A club want.
We won’t bore you with the financial side of things, as nothing as really changed: Inter want €50m+ and, so far, Manchester United haven’t offered that.
This could however change in the near future after reports, including Corriere dello Sport’s, claiming that Ed Woodward has not flown out with the team to Los Angeles in order to conclude transfer business from England.
While the issue between the two clubs is a financial one, money isn’t the problem for Perisic.
Already said to have agreed a €5m/year contract with the Red Devils, Inter’s offer of €4m + bonuses doesn’t interest him, as what really interests him is playing Champions League football next season.
Manchester United, despite finishing 6th in the Premier League, qualified for the competition after winning the Europa League, while Inter won’t be playing any European football next year, missing out by finishing 7th in Serie A.
By the sound of things, a new offer could be on its way from Old Trafford, with Corriere claiming Mourinho is hoping an improved bid is made before next Tuesday, when Inter leave for China on their preseason tour.
More waiting on this one, then.
