Since Fabio Paratici moved to Tottenham Hotspur, and even since his ban, the Premier League club have increasingly been looking towards Serie A for recruits.
It’s worked well for Spurs and some of the most important members of Ange Postecoglou’s squad have come from that direction.
That looks to be a plan ahead of the summer window as well, and one name which is growing in terms of the number of Tottenham links is Alessandro Buongiorno.
On Thursday. we covered claims from Italy that Spurs have already made contact with Torino about signing the 24-year-old.
The claims continue on Friday, with La Repubblica, relayed by TuttoJuve, reporting the defender will be watched by ‘many clubs’ when he plays for Torino against Inter Milan at the San Siro on Sunday.
They build the hype by saying the centre-back ‘is destined to become one of the transfer targets of half of Europe’.
Tottenham are said to be ‘in the front row’ for his signing and it’s even claimed Spurs have been ‘moving under the radar for a few months now’.
AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus are all thought to be keen and that magic €35m figure – which seems to be a favourite for Serie A these days – is wheeled out as the potential asking price.
Tottenham are seen as the danger, but central defence isn’t an aware in which Postecoglou’s squad is crying out for a reinforcement, especially after the winter purchase of Radu Dragusin from Genoa.
One to keep an eye on, and there’s clear insistence Tottenham are not only keen but are also doing something about it.
