Earlier this year, we covered claims from Argentina that Newcastle United had sent a scout to watch Boca Juniors’ Kevin Zenón.
On April 11th, Boca Noticias reported the Magpies are still following the 22-year-old.
Radio Continental journalist Martín Costa, relayed by Bolvaip, shares the latest updates on Newcastle’s interest in the midfielder.
Zenón arrived at Boca Juniors in January, and has managed three goals and four assists from 19 games so far.
Newcastle have been following him since this time at Unión Santa Fe and have ‘intensified the interest’ following impressive form for his current club.
Costa adds the Tyneside club have ‘again expressed an intention’ to sign him and could make a ‘concrete offer’ to Boca Juniors. The Argentine’s deal lasts until December 2028 and his employer have no plans to part ways with him in the summer window.
Despite Boca Juniors making Zenón non-transferable, Newcastle will continue to follow him, and they could still have a chance to secure his services.
Zenón has a €15m clause and Boca Juniors will request this figure if Eddie Howe’s side were to make an offer for him in the next window.
This could be a potential bargain deal for Newcastle, but Costa or Bolavip don’t indicate if they are ready to meet Boca’s demand.
