Newcastle United are expected to send a scout to watch Boca Juniors midfielder Kevin Zenón in the Superclasico clash with River Plate this weekend.

That’s according to journalist Martín Costa, who has revealed Newcastle’s interest in the 22-year-old to Saca del Medio on Radio Continental.

Zenón only joined Boca Juniors from CA Union in Argentina in a €3.2m deal in the January transfer window but has been quickly earning admirers at the club, with one goal and one assist in six games to date.

He could be one of the next talents to leave the club, with Europe keeping a close eye on Boca at the moment as they continue to produce talent and sell them for major profit.

And it seems there is already interest in the Premier League, with Newcastle United reportedly expressing an interest.

The Magpies have shown a determination to seal young talent for the future as part of their project, and that means they are likely to send a scout to watch him live in action this weekend as a result according to Costa.

“On the weekend at the Monumental there will be people from Newcastle who are going to go watch Zenón,” he said.

“The interest is there, they are going to see him and if he convinces them we will see what happens in the middle of the year. The clause is $15m.”
