Aston Villa defender Diego Carlos is a potential target for AC Milan this summer as they look to reshape their squad.

That’s according to AS, who say the Italian side are ‘preparing a revolution’ after a disappointing season and the former Sevilla defender is one of the options for their defence.

The newspaper explains that those in charge at the San Siro are beginning to evaluate the different options for the squad this summer.

Geoffrey Moncada, the sports director at the club, is focusing on reinforcing the defence and Aston Villa’s Diego Carlos is one of the names being looked at.

He is ‘one of the most liked names’ at the club and considered a ‘dream’ signing to help reinforce the defence in front of Mike Maignan.

A deal with Aston Villa will not be easy as the defender still has two years left on his current deal and they would seek to recover a large part of their initial investment in him. He’s also a much used part of the squad, with 33 appearances so far this season.

AS also say that, in Italy they’re insistent that the first conversations have not yet taken place, although those are expected to happen sooner rather than later.

Interestingly, a quick search in Italy on produces the original report from AS, so they appear to be talking about their own sources in Italy at this point.

Either way, Aston Villa may need to brace themselves for a bid, with Carlos seemingly on Milan’s list of options for this summer.
