Ruben Dias has been out of the transfer rumour mill for a while, but with the January window approaching and the player continuing to progress, both for his club and country, there were always bound to be new claims.

This weekend, A Bola report that Benfica may not be able to keep the 21 year old beyond the January transfer window. He almost left in the summer for Lyon, and that lack of a big transfer sees Benfica getting twitchy about their financial situation again.

There’s no lack of interest in the youngster, and Record claim Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Juventus are all maintaining contacts about potentially signing the central defender.

The European giants want to be kept informed of the conditions to sign the player, and presumably aware of what each other are doing.

A Bola make it clear an offer of €30m will make Benfica wobble and could lead to an exit.

That offer hasn’t arrived yet, and it would be a waiting game to see if Manchester United and the others make their interest more formal.

A young defender may not be what Jose Mourinho really needs right now, but it sound like he’s available. United watch Benfica almost every week, so will be well aware of the player’s talents.
