Andre Gomes played reasonably well for Everton on Saturday as Marco Silva’s side lost 3-1 to Manchester City.

Yerry Mina and Lucas Digne, who both also arrived from Barcelona during the summer, had mixed games. The Colombian was shaky, but again Digne underlined that he’s been a good signing for the Toffees.

Talk of Everton wanting to keep Gomez beyond the end of the loan period is now making more news in the Catalan media. There’s an increasing feeling that Barcelona could get a reasonable fee come the next summer market, especially with Everton having no buying clause.

Sunday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo reports that Barca are aware Everton want to sign the midfielder on a permanent basis, and now they ‘await offers’.

That’s not just from the Merseyside club, it’s been building in the Catalan media over the past few days that an auction situation is being anticipated.

That will depend on how Gomes does between now and the end of the season, but Barca know Everton are good payers. The English club paid more than the higher end of the early prices estimated in Barcelona for both Mina and Digne.

Mundo Deportivo also carry quotes Gomes gave to the English media recently about being happy, and that’s likely to count for something when the time for a transfer comes.
