Over the past couple of months, the Brazilian media have had several stories about Botafogo’s chase for Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani.

Some of those articles had details of the player’s salary requests, and at one point, it was even claimed the Rio de Janeiro side were soon expecting from his response to an offer.

However, in a report from Globo Esporte today, it’s said the talks for the move cooled down, and that has everything to do with the rumours which have been on lately.

According to the outlet, Cavani and his staff got irritated with the numbers leaked in the media, and even though Botafogo haven’t given up, they know the negotiation will now be ‘hard’.

Edinson Cavani’s contract with Manchester United expires at the end of the season, and that’s why several South American clubs consider this a big chance to finally bring him back to the continent.

In Botafogo’s case, their new owner John Textor recently admitted he’d like to sign the Manchester United striker, hence the efforts to do so.
