Manchester City have ‘already taken an interest’ in Ajax’s Antony Matheus dos Santos.

That’s according to ElNacional, who say the Eredivisie side are the club the Citizens scouts ‘follow most closely’.

Antony arrived in Amsterdamin 2020 and managed 10 goals and 10 assists last season. He has a goal and two assists in five games this term and his style of play has seen some compare him to Neymar.

Barcelona have the winger on their agenda and the Premier League winners’ interest in the 21-year-old has reached their ears.

These two sides are not the only clubs to have their sights on the Brazilian. As per the report, Manchester City and Barcelona are joined by Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid have taken an interest in the player.

ElNacional add Pep Guardiola’s side will ‘do everything possible to sign him’. However, should they end up signing Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, City will give Barca ‘a free route’ to take Antony.

It’s to be noted Antony’s preferred position is on the right wing, while Kane operates as a No.9. Therefore, it wouldn’t make sense for City to end interest in the Ajax man if they bring the Spurs star to the Etihad.

The South American’s market value is €25m, but Ajax expect to get ‘much more’ from any potential sale. The Dutch club’s plan is to retain Antony for one or two seasons and then sell him ‘for an amount exceeding €50m’.
