Three Portuguese newspapers have found a consensus this Wednesday: Sporting could soon bring Adrien Silva back from Leicester City.

A Bola, Record and Correio da Manhã all have stories on the rumour today, saying it’s possible that the Lions could sign their captain back in the winter.

The player would be open to a return in the January window, and according to Record, his family is already aware of that possibility.

The problem, just as expected, is Leicester City’s will to find a deal. Sporting can’t afford 100% of the salary Adrien makes at the Foxes, neither can they pay for a permanent transfer, considering that the Premier League side spent €25m to sign him in 2017.

That’s why the Lions will have to be patient, trying to get a loan deal in which Leicester would still pay a part of Adrien’s wages. The other possibility would be for the player to accept a pay cut during his spell in Lisbon.

Adrien’s return to Sporting looks like an idea that is being worked on, although Record makes it clear that there are other clubs who are interested in him and have already contacted Leicester looking for an agreement.
