Manchester United manager José Mourinho has telephoned Porto to know more about central defender Éder Militão, according to claims on Wednesday.

Brazilian outlet UOL says the Portuguese boss is genuinely interested in the defender, who’s having an impressive season for the Dragons. That’s why they had a scout at Porto’s game against Portimonense last weekend.

Mourinho’s approach had the intention to bring Militão to Manchester United in the January market. The conditions of a deal, however, make the move unlikely for the winter.

UOL claims that not long ago, Porto would negotiate for just over €20m. But after some new conversations with agent Kia Joorabchian, it’s claimed the Dragons would only sell Militão for something close to his €50m release clause.

Besides Manchester United, Chelsea and Everton are also said to be interested in trying to bring Militão to the Premier League. That’s why his departure from Porto is seen as a matter of time by the Portuguese club.
