Ezgjan Alioski was perhaps Leeds United’s most impressive signing of the summer.

The 25 year old, widely known as ‘Gianni’, had made himself a star in Switzerland and should have had more interest than came forward.

Leeds United were fortunate there wasn’t the rush there may have been, but weren’t the player’s only option. Alioski didn’t rush into things, but patience from the Championship club won out and they’ll hope to be rewarded this season.

A goal and two assists in five Championship games so far is a good start at Leeds United, and Alioski carried his good form into international duty.

The Macedonian has ties with Albania and knows several of the team, and speaking after the 1-1 draw he was very open.

After the match, Alioksi shad a chat with Albanian TV, and Macedonia’s Cnopt quote the Leeds United player as saying: “We deserved the victory, but this is football where the result counts. Albania played with fear.

“I expected much more from our opponent who count several of my good friends among them, with whom it is always a pleasure to be on the pitch. You were much stronger in the first match. It is obvious that you have a problem and that the manager should sort it.”

Alioksi, who thought his team should have won, came out of the match unscathed, and will now be concentrating on Leeds United’s Saturday game away to Championship rivals Burton.
