Ezgjan Alioski has somewhat angered Albania defender Mërgim Mavraj.

Macedonia and Albania drew 1-1 on Tuesday evening, and after the match Alioksi explained his side were the better team.

The Leeds United attacker didn’t leave it there, saying he was disappointed with Albania, they aren’t as good as previously, and the manager has some work to so.

Unsurprisingly, Alioksi’s comments weren’t received well and when Mavraj found out about them he went on the attack.

In comments that were open, Mavraj showed how irritated he was by criticism from the Leeds United player, who he pretended not to have heard of.

Quoted by Sportal Albania, Mavraj said: “Alioski didn’t like Albania? I don’t know who that man is. Normally, we always compare ourselves to the past, with the great things we have done, going to the Euros. Who has seen the game here, has seen that we have many qualities, just as we have seen that Macedonia only defended in Albania. People would do well to see their own teams, not foreign teams.”

Mavraj plays for Bundesliga club Hamburg, who he joined from FC Koln in the winter transfer window. Playing every minute for Albania at Euro 2016 helped Mavraj raise his profile, which probably played a part in his move.

Perhaps Pierre-Michel Lasogga can inform his old teammate just who Ezgjan Alioski is.
