According to claim in the Italian media, former Manchester United winger Jordi Cruyff could replace Marc Overmars at Ajax, and is the current favourite to replace his compatriot

Overmars is expected to step down as the Dutch side’s sporting director at the end of the season, and the Dutchman has reportedly reached an agreement to join up with his former club Arsenal.

TMW have reported on the latest developments on Overmars’ situation at Ajax, after they broke the news earlier this month he’s reached an agreement to head to Arsenal.

The 43 year old was last year linked with the sporting director job at Ajax, and it seems his name is back in fashion.

Cruyff spent several years in the Ajax youth academy, and although he didn’t play for the senior team his father is a legend at the club.

Last week we covered reports that Overmars will say his farewells to Ajax, and join up Arsenal next summer. There’s been no information what role Overmars would have at Arsenal if he was reunited with Arsene Wenger.

TMW shouted last week ‘Overmars reaches agreement’ with Arsenal, and the story travelled from there, despite there seeming nothing hugely concrete in the claims.
