Sunderland owned attacker, on loan at Fenerbahçe, attacker Jeremain Lens has spoken to TRTSpor about his time in Turkey.
Lens said: “Our only aim is to win the Turkish cup and finish 2nd in the league. I have confidence in myself and in my teammates and I think we can do it. We couldn’t give our fans a season to remember but I hope they forgive us if we win the Turkish cup.”
Lens, of course, was asked about his future and he said: “I don’t want to go back there (Sunderland). I’ve finished my business with them. My intention is to stay at Fenerbahçe but who knows what the future holds. I am hoping both sides reach an agreement for me in the near future.”
Lens also said: “I didn’t know what to expect when I came here but all of the things here for me are perfect right now. I’m very happy, I’m performing well, the fans love me and I love the club. I can’t see any reason to not to continue at Fenerbahçe.”
There were recent claims in the Turkish media that Fenerbahce had an agreement with Sunderland to sign the Netherlands international, but these reports seemed premature.
However, it seems he doesn’t have a future at Sunderland, and after their relegation to the Championship last weekend it’s unlikely he will return to the club.
