On Tuesday morning, Sky Italia stated André Onana had left Inter Milan’s training centre to travel to England to sign for Manchester United. The two clubs have already signed the necessary documents related to the transfer after an agreement was reached for €55m.

Another report from Sky Italia now states the goalkeeper made the trip to Manchester from the Turin airport on Tuesday evening.

Gazzetta dello Sport claim the 27-year-old should undergo medical tests in the next few hours and then complete his move to Manchester United.

The Italian newspaper have interviewed the former Ajax man ahead of his impending arrival at Old Trafford. The move will also see him reunite with his former manager, Erik ten Hag.

When asked to share his views before leaving Inter, the Cameroonian admitted he’s excited to work again under the Dutchman at Manchester United.

“Now I really want to start this new experience, exciting and with a coach who for me is a master. I will go to a great league and a great club, which has a huge history just like that of Inter: I will start from scratch and give everything every day to show the new fans who I am,” he said.

Onana arrived at the San Siro as a free agent last summer. Even though he’s “sad” to leave the Serie A side, it wasn’t easy for him to turn down the English club’s approach.

“The important thing is to be honest and always tell people the truth. I am a person who always wants new challenges. Playing in the Premier League and for a club like United is irresistible,” Onana explained.

“All parties wanted this to happen. But what matters is that if I had stayed, I would have been happy because I never had any problems at Inter.”

Inter lost the Champions League final to Manchester City last month and the stopper has now set his sights on winning the same competition with Manchester United.

“Pride and sadness. You don’t know how much I would have loved to bring the trophy to Milan, celebrate it with our people,” he added.

“We were close to touching it, we deserved it: we played against City head-on, only details were missing, but this is football… Personally, I hope to win the Champions League with United, but I also hope that Inter replay a final and win it.”

Manchester United are expected to announce the signing in the coming hours, but knowing how there things drag on don[t be surprised if they wait… despite Onana announcing it himself.
