As Roger Ibanez’s summer departure from AS Roma continues to sound very likely, Crystal Palace and Chelsea are today mentioned in the race for the 24-year-old.

The story comes from outlet Siamo La Roma, and talks about the chances the centre-back has of moving to London in this transfer window.

Roma director Tiago Pinto reportedly set a price of €35m to sell Ibanez. It’s mentioned the clubs from Germany and England became interested in the player, and that’s how we find ourselves where we are.

With Crystal Palace possibly selling Joachim Anderson, it’s said they’ll be short of defenders and with £30m in their pocket. That’s why Ibanez’s move to Selhurst Park ‘cannot be excluded’, especially given it’s claimed Palace have identified him as a potential replacement.

As for Chelsea, the report mentions the situation of Wesley Fofana, who’ll be out for a long time following his knee injury. His absence could then open a spot for a new defender in the squad.

Those are two situations which could end up dragging Ibanez to London. For now, it’s unclear whether Chelsea and Crystal Palace would meet Roma’s requirements, although both clubs are expected to have enough money for the operation.
