On Tuesday, Foot Mercato reported Napoli and Al-Ahli are set to table bids for Newcastle United’s Allan Saint-Maximin. It was also said the Saudi Arabian side have made a verbal offer of €25m for the winger.

Eddie Howe has also admitted the 26-year-old is in talks with an unnamed club and his exit could be needed for the Magpies to comply with FFP.

There seems to be progress made in Newcastle’s efforts to sell Saint-Maximin, according to RMC Sport.

It’s claimed the Tyneside club and Al-Ahli have reached an ‘agreement in principle’ for around €25m plus bonuses. The latter must agree a deal with the player to conclude the operation in this window.

RMC Sport say the Middle East club have offered the Frenchman a deal worth €12m per year. Even though the two parties still haven’t agreed a deal yet, there is optimism the transfer will go through, also because Saint-Maximin is ‘seduced’ by Al-Ahli’s project.

Napoli manager Rudi Garcia wanted the attacker and the report adds the Serie A winners had planned to meet his camp yesterday. The Naples club are unlikely to make progress because Saint-Maximin is ‘on track to accept the proposal’ made by Al-Ahli.
