At this stage, it’s no secret that Manchester United are engaged in a pursuit of Inter Milan goalkeeper André Onana, and plan to make an official offer to sign him soon.

As widely reported by the Italian media, the price for the Nerazzurri player is expected to be of around €60m, even though the Red Devils may push to spend a little less.

Now as former Valencia goalkeeper Santiago Canizares was today interviewed by Sport Italia (via Inter News), he was quizzed about the price requested for the Manchester United target.

The Spaniard believes Onana may be a little overpriced. A reason for that is that Inter Milan didn’t spend a penny when signing him as a free agent from Ajax last summer.

“Selling Onana for 60 million would be an excellent transfer especially considering the fact that he arrived at Inter on a free transfer. I think it would be a high price for any goalkeeper beyond Onana,” said Canizares.

“André is a good goalkeeper who’s doing very well at Inter and did well in the Champions League this year. But I think that when you talk about these figures, you can find other goalkeepers like him in the transfer market, like Mamardashvili.”

The latest reports from the Italian media regarding Onana say Manchester United are still to place their first official bid for the goalkeeper.

The Red Devils’ interest is only guaranteed because club officials have reportedly been in talks with Inter Milan for the transfer, but the actual offer is still to be made.
