Liverpool have endured a difficult run in the Premier League in recent months, with only four wins in the last 11 matches and two in eight league fixtures.
The poor run also saw them end their 68-game unbeaten run in the Premier League at Anfield.
Jürgen Klopp has been without Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez for most part of this campaign as the centre-back duo are sidelined with serious injuries.
Joel Matip has now been added to the list, which is why the Merseyside club ended up signing Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies late in the winter market.
The Turkey international arrived on a loan deal from Schalke and could be in line to make his Liverpool debut against Manchester City this weekend.
“Everyone was very warm to me during training. I spoke with every member of the team. We had a great talk with Klopp. We have a good and professional team,” Kabak said, as quoted by De Marke Sports.
“When Van Dijk sent me his jersey [December 2018], I thought ‘Hopefully I will wear this shirt together with him’, and I am now waiting for this dream to turn into reality.
“Liverpool – City is a huge game. I don’t know whether I will play or I will be on the bench, but I am very excited. I hope we will be the winning team.”
Van Dijk sent his shirt to Kabak in December 2018 and the latter’s comments suggest he has been dreaming of playing alongside the Dutchman at Liverpool since then.
