Over the past few weeks, Flamengo have been working on securing an agreement with Arsenal’s Jorginho.
The Brazil-born Italy international is in his final year of contract and earlier claims have said he won’t be signing an extension.
Earlier this month, journalist Venê Casagrande reported Flamengo have made progress to sign him on a free transfer. He also explained the Arsenal player is expected to sign a pre-contract this week.
That hasn’t happened yet and Casagrande’s claim is backed up by Bolavip Brasil, who provide the latest on this case.
The 33-year-old has his heart set on joining the Brazilian club amid interest from others including Juventus. The report states Jorginho already has a ‘verbal agreement’ in place with Flamengo.
Jorginho will receive a salary of R$1.8m per month which is around €288,000. The operation is ‘progressing well’ and is ‘on track’ as both parties have shown positive signs.
There were some uncertainties earlier, but it’s said to be almost certain now that the South American club will secure his services. Flamengo, led by their sporting director José Boto, will have talks with the player’s agent to close the deal.
