AC Milan are currently in a similar spiral to Manchester United, with both clubs a “big black hole that depresses.”
That’s according to journalist Giuseppe Pastore, via Milan News, who has been comparing the two sides during an appearance on Cronache di Spogliatoio.
Milan are currently facing something of a crisis, with them sitting in 9th in Serie A and 17 points behind leaders Inter Milan to boot.
They are also 11 points outside of the Champions League places, meaning a return to Europe is unlikely to be on the cards next season.
Things are even bleaker for Manchester United, who sit 14th in the Premier League and 34 points behind leaders Liverpool. They are also 14 points outside of the top four and even nine points outside of the top ten.
They absolutely won’t be in Europe next season unless they can win the Europa League, in which they are set to take on Real Sociedad in the last 16 this week.
It’s been a major fall off in recent years for both sides, who once dominated their respective leagues and were among the powerhouses on Europe. That’s no longer the case, and Pastore can see the similarities between the two sides.
“I would keep the current squad, because it is currently unjudgeable,” he said on Milan.
“Milan has a very respectable squad: I cannot believe that Maignan is this goalkeeper here, Fofana is this one, Pulisic is this one. They have shown that they are much better players.
“Eight different coaches could arrive and nothing would change, the situation is like Manchester United: it is a big black hole that depresses, knocks down and penalises anyone who gets close to it at this moment.”
