Aston Villa have expressed an interest in leave Enzo Barrenechea on loan at Valencia next season.

That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, relaying information from Radio Marca, who say Aston Villa are happy with the midfielder’s progress at Valencia this season.

They report that a meeting has taken place between Aston Villa and Valencia over Barrenechea and the Premier League side have made it clear they think it’s a good idea if his loan is extended by another year.

The player was part of the meeting, and he made it clear that he was happy at the Mestalla. The indication seems to be that he would be happy to stay also. There has been no talk from his side about the future, though.

Valencia would be happy to keep the loanee despite the good form shown by fellow midfielder Javi Guerra this season. Their current loan deal doesn’t include a purchase option.

The two clubs could discuss a transfer at the end of loan, but it would depend on Aston Villa and want they want to do with Barrenechea after this season.

So far it seems they’re only interested in leaving him in Spain on loan, but that can always change if Valencia continue to encourage talks.
