Mexico manager Javier Aguirre has admitted Fulham star Raul Jimenez has given him a ‘blessed problem’ thanks to his performances this season.
Claro Sports have an interview with the Mexico manager today in which he discusses the Fulham star, and the problem he and his teammates are causing.
Jimenez is again enjoying himself with Fulham this season, with nine goals and three assists in 27 games in the Premier League so far.
His form has seen him return to the Mexico set up under Aguirre, who was keen to bring him back into the fold after the previous regime went in a different direction.
Jimenez has rewarded him for that too, bagging a goal and an assist against the USA in October before repeating the trick in a 4-0 win over Honduras in November.
That performance, and his continued status and goals in England mean he is likely to be in the Mexico squad for the next international break as well.
That, though, is a problem for Aguirre, who also has AC Milan Santiago Gimenez in good form and Julián Quiñones, meaning it is likely someone is going to miss out, at least as a starter. He’s aware of that but think it’s a blessing and not a curse.
“They are in good form, as is Julián (Quiñones),” he said.
“‘Blessed problem’, I prefer to have four greats in each position to have this problem, my collaborators help me. Coaches must have tactical variants, not just a scheme.
“In this specific case, they are on list 60, we will see if they maintain that level. We will have tactical variants.”
