Tottenham defender Cristian Romero’s latest injury is not as bad as first feared and he will be back in 10 days time.

That’s according to journalist Gastón Edul, who reports the ‘good news’ that the centre-back will be fit in time for the start of the World Cup in Qatar.

Romero missed Tottenham’s clash with Marseille in the Champions League last night and the win over Bournemouth at the weekend, with Antonio Conte admitting they were taking things carefully with the Argentine defender.

That followed the Italian claiming he had taken a massive risk in starting the defender against Sporting Club de Portugal in the Champions League before that after he had sat out out the 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United.

There were growing concerns about the player and his availability for the World Cup, where the Tottenham defender will be a key player for Argentina if he is fit.

It seems those fears can be allayed, though, with Edul reporting that Romero is only suffering from a strain.

That will be rehabilitated in 10 days time and he will be ‘cured’ and ‘ready’ for Argentina’s first game at the World Cup against Saudi Arabia.
