Atalanta forward Jeremie Boga is ‘liked’ by Brighton and Hove Albion manager Roberto de Zerbi and could secure a move in the January transfer window.

That’s according to Prima Bergamo, who say it is ‘evident’ the Italian boss is a fan, but the Serie A side will lead talks should they happen.

They explain that while we are still a long way away from the January transfer window, there are already movements and Atalanta don’t want to be caught unprepared.

Two names at the top of the list that need dealing with are Boga and Ruslan Malinovskyi, who both have contracts expiring in 2024.

They’re both currently at the bottom of the pecking order in the squad and so moves are expected, particularly given their contract situations.

The fact that Boga is ‘liked’ by Brighton boss De Zerbi is at the moment ‘evident’ and potential negotiations are seen as something of a given.

However, it has to be taken into account that Atalanta will not sell to weaken themselves and will ‘dictate negotiations’ and the conditions for a transfer to suit them.

Boga was already close to joining Leicester in the summer but decided to stay at the last minute, but that stance could change once January comes around.

Either way, if De Zerbi wants the forward at Brighton, then he’s going to have to work for the transfer, with Atalanta unlikely to just roll over even if they want to sell.
