Fábio Silva became Wolverhampton Wanderers’ club-record signing in the summer after the Premier League side paid €40m to FC Porto for his signature.

The striker has made 12 appearances in all competitions this season, but it includes only four starts.

Despite lack of regular opportunities in is his first season at Wolves, the 18-year-old admitted he is enjoying life in England.

O Jogo have published an in-depth interview with the Portugal U19 international and the first question thrown at him was about his adaption to the needs of English football.

“It has been going well. I think it has even surpassed my expectations. It is not that they were easy, but it is normal for a player, when he goes abroad, to need some time to adapt to the club, to colleagues, to the climate… in various aspects,” Silva said.

“But, in the case of Wolverhampton, it is a very easy club to adapt to and with each passing day I feel more and more integrated. It is one of the clubs where you can skip that part.”

The Wanderers are managed by Portuguese coach Nuno Espírito Santo and apart from his coach, the teenager has eight of his compatriots in Wolves’ squad. This could be one of the reasons for good start to his spell at Molineux.

Silva revealed the English side were not the first to show interest in him during the last window.

“I think Wolverhampton was not one of the first clubs that came into contact with my manager. But I am very sincere – and anyone who knows me knows that it is true – I just want to play games. It was a joint decision, but I’m not one to ask,” he explained.

The attacker also explained there were other clubs who came for him, but he was right to pick the English side over other suitors.

“I had heard about it a few weeks before. I didn’t know it would be a certainty, because I was also analysing other things, but I knew it was a hypothesis. Anyway, Wolverhampton was the project that most impressed me,” the Wolves frontman stressed.

“As everyone knows, I had the possibility to choose club projects that, for other people, could have more name, but Wolverhampton is a huge club and touched by the confidence it showed from the first hour. Everyday I feel I made the right decision”
