Everton loanee João Vírginia is set to go through another test at Sporting tonight, as reported by the Portuguese media.
Newspaper Record writes that the goalkeeper will have another chance to play for the Lions in the League Cup clash against Penafiel.
The 22-year-old, who spends most games on the bench, is now given an opportunity ‘to give new information on the pitch’ to manager Ruben Amorim and his staff regarding his potential stay at the club.
Sporting have an option to buy Virgínia from Everton for €3.5m at the end of the season, and as written by Record, are giving him ‘a round of tests’ to prove himself for the Lions.
Virgínia doesn’t have an easy task to impress at Sporting, since the Lisbon side currently have Antonio Adan as the first choice in his position.
The Spaniard has been chosen as the league’s best goalkeeper for the second consecutive month now, so the Toffees man is up against it.
Meanwhile, the Everton loanee had four appearances so far, with the last one being a 4-2 defeat to Ajax.
Now he has another chance, in an easier game, to show his potential.
