Tiago Pinto has had an enjoyable time at Bournemouth since his arrival in 2024.
He’s helped the club sign players like Dean Huijsen and Evanilson and both of them have been key contributors in this campaign so far.
The experience is the opposite to how his time at AS Roma went, as the Portuguese constantly faced criticism from then-manager Jose Mourinho and his signings were also blamed for the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League.
Things are now better at Bournemouth and Pinto has featured in a documentary named ‘Don’t call it Cinderella’ that has been produced by Gianlucadimarzio.com.
A teaser released on social media had the Cherries’ sporting director speaking about his role at the English club and he also briefly spoke of Roma.
He said, as relayed by TeleRadioStereo: “In England, and in particular at Bournemouth, I rediscovered the ability to plan ahead and have a clear strategy in recruitment.”
TeleRadioStereo see this as a ‘possible jab’ at Roma’s Friedkin ownership and believe Pinto is indirectly trying to point out why his stint at the Giallorossi isn’t looked at positively.
There could be truth to that, especially considering how the Friedkins have operated in the first half of the season at Roma. They have sacked Daniele de Rossi and Ivan Juric in the same season and while Claudio Ranieri has turned around their fortunes, there is a degree of over-performance in that.
Bournemouth themselves could qualify for Europe this season and it shows that Pinto made the right decision when picking the Vitality Stadium as a destination.
