Last month, we covered claims from Belgium which stated Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford are ready to sign AS Saint-Étienne’s Lucas Stassin in the summer window.

The striker joined the Ligue 1 club from KVC Westerlo in August 2024 and managed 12 goals and three assists from 28 league games.

Voetbal Nieuws backs up Brighton and Brentford interest in the Belgian and adds that VfB Stuttgart and Lille are also in the picture to sign him.

The former Anderlecht man has a contract until 2028 with an option for another year, but his future largely depends on the club.

Saint-Étienne are currently 17th [18 teams in Ligue 1], in the relegation zone, four points behind 16th placed Le Havre. With two games to go, their stay in the top flight looks very difficult.

The report states the Brighton and Brentford target could change clubs in the upcoming window if Saint-Étienne are relegated.

Stassin, who is recovering from injury, is in demand, and Antenne Centre Télévision had a chat with him to discuss the recent transfer links. The player insists his immediate focus is to help the French club avoid dropping to the second division.

“My goal is to finish the season first. I’m staying focused on the matches,” he said, relayed by Voetbal Nieuws.

“I have a minor injury now, so that changes things a bit, but I’m trying to get fit again as soon as possible. The transfer period will be here soon. But first I’m focusing on the end of the season and then we’ll see what happens.”
