Everton have made a brilliant start to the season. The club look transformed under Carlo Ancelotti and are the deserved early leaders in the Premier League.

The Toffees have been impressive in several areas of the pitch, with James Rodriguez already making himself a star in English football.

One area they haven’t excelled is goalkeeper, with Jordan Pickford earning himself even more critics than he had before the current campaign.

That’s seen Everton linked with a number of options. Monday morning saw claims from Italy of serious interest in AS Roma’s Pau Lopez, but it looks like they could be about to announce his colleague, Robin Olsen, instead.

TuttoMercatoWeb report Everton have made a ‘breakthrough’ in talks with Roma for the goalkeeper and would be ‘ready to announce’ his signing.

Olsen would arrive as competition for Pickford, and likely has a good chance of being some games in the not too distant future. Should that happen then Pickford will not only have to worry about his club position, but also that with the national team.
