On October 3rd, Moil Lorens broke the news that Manchester United were set to sign Edinson Cavani. The striker left PSG when his contract ended earlier this year and has been linked to several clubs since then.

Atletico Madrid were very interested but they first had to offload Diego Costa, having already signed Luis Suarez from Barcelona, and that proved too hard to do. Cavani had been keen on a move to Atletico in the winter market, yet PSG did everything they could to block the move and that saw free-agent status become inevitable.

Lorens reported right from the start that the deal was agreed and Cavani to Manchester United was as good as done, and his scoop looks like it’s proven to be true.

He now reports the Uruguayan attacker signed his contract with the Premier League club ‘a moment ago’ and that the move will be announced soon.

For Manchester United it’s been a much busier deadline day that usual, and whilst the club didn’t get priority target Jadon Sancho, it’s still been an exciting few hours for transfers.
