Independiente coach Lucas Pusineri has revealed he has held talks with Manchester City’s Sergio Agüero about a return to the club.
Agüero is set to enter the final year of his contract at Manchester City this summer, with it extremely unlikely he will be extending his time at the Etihad beyond ten years.
Speculation about his future has been rife, with many believing that he could return to former club Independiente.
The Argentine striker came through the ranks at the club as a youngster, making 36 appearances and scoring 18 goals for the club before securing a £20m move to Atlético Madrid in 2006.
He has commented in the past that he would be interested in making an emotional homecoming should it be possible.
Now the club’s manager has revealed he’s already spoken to the Manchester City man to discuss the possibility of it happening.
“When I arrived at Independiente as coach, I told him: ‘I want you here tomorrow’,” he told Radio La Red, relayed by RPP.
“He told me: ‘Well, tomorrow I can’t go, but in the future, God will say’. We have the illusion that Sergio can be there when I am the Independiente coach.”
