Newcastle United wanted to sign Boubakary Soumaré in the January window, but the Lille midfielder turned down an opportunity to join the Magpies.
On Friday, we covered claims from Sport the Tyneside club haven’t ‘thrown in the towel’ yet on the 21-year-old and they would have to battle with Real Madrid to sign him in the next transfer window.
The La Liga club’s interest in the France U21 international has also been covered by Le10 Sport as they state Soumaré is included Real Madrid’s ‘secret short-list’ along with Rennes’ Eduardo Camavinga.
Le10 once again mentions the Premier League club. They state Steve Bruce’s side are still chasing the player and Newcastle have ‘high hopes’ of signing Soumaré in the ‘coming weeks’.
Apart from Newcastle, other clubs in England have positioned themselves for the Frenchman. However, Le10 doesn’t reveal details of those sides.
The report further mentions Real Madrid are monitoring Soumaré and his development, meaning Newcastle could face competition from the European giants for a potential transfer in the summer.
