Naby Keita is set to join German side Werder Bremen this summer after leaving Liverpool on a free transfer.

That’s according to SportBILD, who say the midfielder is ‘on the verge’ of making the Bundesliga side his next club.

The newspaper reports that medical examinations are scheduled for next week, with Keita expected to sign a contract with Werder until 2026. This is backed up by journalist Christian Falk, who says the move is a ‘done deal’.

The midfielder is departing Liverpool on a free transfer next month when his contract expires, bringing an end to his five year stay at Anfield following a €60m switch from RB Leipzig in 2018.

He’s won every major title with the Reds but has struggled for fitness and was not a regular starter under Jurgen Klopp this season.

Bremen want to bring him back to the Bundesliga and according to BILD’s information, ‘the topic is over’ and a move has already been arranged.

The Liverpool man will receive a salary of €1.5m a year at the club ‘plus hand money’. That equates to around €125,000 a week.
