Medipol Basaksehir vice president Mustafa Saral has told the Turkish media the club are considering signing Birmingham City winger Kerim Frei.
The player has been linked with a move back to Turkey in the past week after struggling to make an impact since his arrival at Birmingham City in January.
Speaking to Sporx, Saral was asked about who could replace Cengiz Under after the 20 year old joined AS Roma: “We are considering signing a winger, Kerim Frei is a candidate. We will know more on Tuesday.”
Last week Basaksehir president Goksel Gumusdag revealed the club were in talks to sign Birmingham City’s Frei, but an agreement hadn’t yet been made with the Championship side.
The 23 year old Turkish international joined Birmingham City from Besiktas for €2.5m in the last window, but he could be set for a quick exit.
Frei played 13 games for Birmingham City last season with 10 of these coming off the bench, and if the Championship club can get all their money back then an exit could suit all involved.
