Tim Krul’s exclusion from Newcastle United’s touring squad has been quickly picked up by the Dutch media. The goalkeeper not being involved with the squad is a clear indication from Rafael Benitez that there’s no real future for Krul at Newcastle United in the coming season.
It’s possible things could change but that looks unlikely right now and Krul will be left trying to find himself a new club. Neither of the 29 year old’s loans last season worked out brilliantly, and there will still be question marks over what level Krul is at now, especially after Benitez’s decision.
Voetbal International say Krul is being edged towards the exit, and whilst this is usually when one would expect the Netherlands media to mention all the interested Eredivisie clubs, the best they can come up with is: ‘It’s unclear if there is concrete interest in Krul’
With options not looking widespread, Krul may have to take a role as second choice somewhere, but then he’s got the continuing issue of not being able to prove himself consistently.
