If you have been following Chelsea transfer rumours of late, you’ll know that the interest in Denzel Dumfries is back in the Italian media as Graham Potter looks for a new right-back.

This interest had already started when Thomas Tuchel was in charge, and now we see it continue under his successor, but the Dutchman isn’t the only man on the Blues’ shortlist.

There is another Chelsea have been keeping track of, to the point of making an offer for him last summer, as Marca recall on Monday.

That’s Nahuel Molina, who was thrust back in the spotlight during the World Cup with his performances for Argentina, which have so far included a goal and an assist in five appearances.

He found the back of the net against the Netherlands in the quarter final, and Chelsea ‘do not forget a full-back for whom they already bid last summer’.

Diego Simeone stepped in to make sure he went nowhere, and that has served him well, but with the January transfer window approaching, the Stamford Bridge side are back.

Marca explain that his performances at the World Cup ‘put him back on Chelsea’s radar’ just in case Inter decide against selling Dumfries in the coming weeks.

This could be a worry, but the way he and other Atlético Madrid players have performed in Qatar has given the La Liga side ‘an opportunity to re-value their footballers’.

Molina, as things stand, is ‘in principle’ not one of the members of the squad they want to part ways with, as the Spanish club believe they could have ‘one of the best in the world in his position in the next decade’.
