Olympiakos midfielder Pape Abou Cissé has insisted he did not receive an offer from Arsenal this summer, but Unai Emery was keen on signing him.
Cissé was lined with a move to the Emirates back in July, with one British newspaper suggesting they were ready to pay £10m for the 6ft 6in defender.
A move never materialised, though, with Gunners instead electing to sign David Luiz from Chelsea on deadline day of the summer transfer window.
Arsenal were not the only Premier League club to be linked with the defender, with Wolves also said to be keen and even considering a £20m bid.
However, he says there was nothing more than interest from England, despite there being discussions with the Gunners at one stage.
“Arsenal had not made an offer. The coach was interested, and there were discussions,” he told Le Quotidien.
“There were other English clubs West Ham and Wolverhampton. In France, there was Rennes, Monaco. But hey, I’m still contracted with Olympiakos.
“My goal this season is to go very far in the Champions League or Europa League.
“Win the Greek championship because it’s been two years since we won a title and Olympiakos is a club used to the title.
“I dream of playing in the Premier League. The German championship tempts me a lot, return to France too, where I made my professional debut. But I have a preference for England.”
